What's the best floppy vent fix?!

Ok, I know everyone has this problem, or at least has had it, so what's the fix!?

When I got my car, it had nickels jammed in the vents to keep them from moving!

I pulled mine out and replaced the foam padding on the ends.

goto a hardware store, craft store, or even walmart and get some velcro strips.

stick a small piece to the end of the vent, and the vent will stay at whatever angle you put it.

from the factory, it had pieces of felt there, but the felt wore out over time.. the velcro fix should last as long as the adhesive does... so you'll get about 15 years out of this fix.

Re: What's the best floppy vent fix?!

So I notice when I purchased my 89 it had the foam on the ends of the vents but it didn't seem to work well especially in the center horizontal vents. The center vents always from day one have been facing down. Then I tried the o-ring fix and wasn't happy with that because center vents still move and rotate down. So, I got to thinking about it and asked a friend of mine hook me up with some EMC gasket material samples from one of his vendors. The net is they work great! Why? More surface area and it blocks the air from escaping between the housing and vent, so more air goes out the vent which increases the velocity of the air.

Installation was easy, before removing the cover over the adhesive I set it in place, inserted the vent to measure the depth, then i just moved the gasket forward just a little to add some interference. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!
