You can get this stuff from most auto supply\parts stores called "Tint Off".
I got some so I can re-do my hatch this winter, now I have a heat gun & some experience.

What works really well is to use a hair dryer (or and actual heat gun) in conjunction with SHARP FRESH razor blades- and buy a holder for them, availible in the paint department of any hardware store or home improvement warehouse.

Once you get an edge started, it should all peel off in a sheet.

THEN to assist in getting the glue residue which will be left behind off- use some type of adhesive cleaner or paint thinner works good.

Follow up with a good window cleaning and you are done.

BTW- I just removed the wrinkled rasin-purple tint that was near 10 years old from my S10 last weekend. I will retint one day, but I had to get this awful looking crap off!

Scrape the tint and then use the "tint off" on the adhesive that is left behind, if it was a quality install.

Sometimes if people forget to seperate the film before putting it on, then it is easier to remove it with no residue left on the windows.

you can also spray amonia on the window, and put saran wrap on it, let it bake, then do the razor blades to start a piece then rip of in a sheet and repeat, steel wool works well for the smalll hard to get bits and the adhesive left behind, make sure you keep the blades away from your defroster lines though if your doing the hatch window too, and leave your car open to air it out

If you Have rear defrosters I would Recomend Using a Hair Dryer and get it warm and Peel It off Peice By Piece, then Use Steel Wool and a adheisive remover to take off the Glue then Good Cleaning With Steel Wool again.

I use Steel wool to remove any glue Before Retinting, If not the Glue Will Show Horibale throught the new tint. On Back WIndows with defrosters here is the method I used when I tinted for a Living.

Spray the out side of back window with Water, take a trash bag and cut it so it is one big sheet, then lay trash bag on wet window and From the center Take a Rubber Squeege and Make a anchor point then Squeege out all water so that the trash bag is the shap of window, Then take a Olfa Knif or Exacto knife and Cut the Trash Bag Leaving a 1" or so off hang over.
now you have a Good Template Put Ammonia in a Spray bottle and open Hatch, Spray ammonia on to Inside of window covering very goodnow Lay You Trash Bag Template on inside of Window and Tape Hang over to Eddges and LET BAKE IN SUN FOR A FEW HOURS then Pull at Each Corner untill you Meet in middle and Clean WIth Steel WOol Sereral Times.

Too much hassle with all the "baking" and stuff. Just get the Tint Off and start scraping immediately. Use the trash bag to protect your door interior and handle. The glue comes off pretty quick and in a gel like state.
