Custom Dashboards??
i am going to do an engine swap into a 3rd gen f-body. i figure i might need to use the harness from the donor car. if thats the case the pcm runs the cluster so i would need that too. has anyone made their own style dash? how hard is it to pop a dash out of a camaro? can you fiberglass a dash? i never did much interior work before mostly mechanical.

you can, essentailly, do anything you want and have enough time and money to do. HOwever, it's normally the time and money that make the decision as to what is going to be done, so, how are you fabricating skills?
Making a dash from resin or fiberglass is going to take a lot of work to make it look at home in the car. And the car itself is going to require a lot of work to make the dash look at home also ... they both better be prestine, or else, eh, it'll look half assed.
For a pic of a nice dash, check out the thread "has anyone see this?" (or something close to that) it was done by Kandied, has a vette dash, modded, cleaned, filled, smoothed, and painted body color, very showy, and that's the "finished" look you'll get from a glass panel. Depending on what type of engine swapping your doing, there's a good chance thaty ou won't need to be chanig ur dash anyay, as the wiring going into the pcm and coming from it will be seperate, so, you can unplug engine harness wiring, plug in a new harness to a new ecm, then reconnect your existing dash harness wiring to the computer, as long as you can find a computer from roughly the same year as your vehicle (exact would be better) i doubt u'll have a problem.

ok cool. really i plan on using the same dash from whatever f-body i get. im swapping in an engine from a pontiac gtp. i wanted to use the gtp gauge cluster. i also want to mould some extra gauges into the dashboard. maybe ill get a camaro cluster and a gtp one and make a mold of the camaro one and fit the gtp one into it with a boost gauge. i have a bunch of ideas. if anyone has some clean camaro and firebird dash shots please email them to me so i can print and start drawing out what i want to do. i have good fabbing skills....with metal. any good fiberglass tutorials?
