Using old paint

I have a 1/2 gallon of acrylic enamel left over from painting the car back in 1993. It's been sealed tight since then, I opened it last night and there's no drying evident. I'm hoping to get a local hardware or paint store to shake it for me.

Think this is a bad plan? I'm re-repairing rust repairs on the rocker panels, so its not like I'm worried about color matching on half a body panel. My main concern is whether it will shoot & cure properly because of its age.

The shelf- life of enamel shouldn't be a problem,
Hopefully it's never been frozen, that's never too cool!
make sure you update hardeners and thinners.

I'll do that.

It's been stored in the garage, where it has gotten cool but it shouldn't have frozen.

Budget has been strained hard enough, I didn't want to spend another couple hundred for new paint before heading for Pomona.

Thanks for the advice.

Just be sure to strain it really well prior to shooting and you should be fine.

Update: Shot it last night.

I took the can to the paint store, they shook it for me while we rang up the reducer and hardener (that hardener stuff is expensive...). At least they gave me some stir sticks & strainers.

Mixed & strained per instructions, it worked fine. Color match is good (not much fading on the bottom of the car).

The whole thing really needs to be cleaned up and repainted, but I don't have enough time to do that now.

Thanks for your advice and tips.
