Anyone do this to their interior trim with body filler?
I was thinken .. for instance lets use the gauge cluster trim peice that sometimes people just paint..
I'm wondering what it would look like if we took body filler, put a nice coat over the trim peice.. created a new surface using the filler. then primered it .. shot ur base coat. then clear.. on other peices that are smaller like where the light pull out on/off thing is for the lights.. "also where my security light and fan switch are" create something other then flat.. something that glides .. like shape the filler as u go... only thing is, what about them star screws.. cant get rid of them i dont think.. anyone else do this or think about it?

body filler should only be used on the body imho.

yeah it will work on plastics, unless it doesn't like sticking. i wouldn't see a problem.

I sanded down my gauge cluster smooth and then Joe primed, I sanded, he then painted it. Never needed filler on it. Looks way better smoothed and painted then not and painted. I try not to use filler unless absolutely neccesary...its ment to fix slight flaws to fill minor imperfections. Not smooth a textured piece.
To use filler...You will still have to sand it to get the filler to stick. I guess you could sand... primer...apply filler sand till smooth, then paint. Just one more thing that could crack the paint, if there is not good adhesion. Might take less time...
Why not!
Pics of how mine turned out.... granted its a bird...there are also no screws on the surface to deal with either...
