IMSA Hood
I want this hood. Does anyone else like it besides me, and 4mul8r..the only thirdgen member who has one. I'm e-mailing the usual hood companies about the request.

It's towards the bottom.

Yeah, I like that hood. Right now i've got one of the bolt-on IMSA style bulge sections (ala Pro-Am) waiting to go onto my '91, but if I don't like how that turns out i'll be trying to get ahold of the entire 1-piece hood.

Definitely looks good to me, but I would cut out the opening facing the windshield and try to make it like a functional cowl.

I'm talking with Rex, to see if he'd make that hood with the Viper GTS hood scoop in front. Someone 'chopped it, but I can't seem to find it.

The RA1 is a very nice hood, I've considered it many times. To me, this IMSA/GTS hood is the perfect blend of thirdgen lines, and modern edge. Does anyone have the 'chop someone did of this idea on someone else's KITT?

12,000 people will say they want one.
The hood will get made and cost $450-500.
2 people will buy one.
And I didn't even need to call Miss Cleo
That hood is really nice, BTW.

Damn, that hood is SWEET! I really like its looks. I'd definitely consider that for my GTA.

No! You are not allowed...No one is allowed to get this hood.
j/k
I like being the only one to have it...but I'm just so afraid of how I would replace it if I cracked it or got into an accident....
Right now...the only alternative I would consider would be the ram air I hood.
But if they actually started to make these hoods again, then I wouldn't be as worried about it.
I wonder what percentage of the population of 3rd gen owners are on here? 10-20% maybe? Because in order for the company to be profitable in making this hood, the had to have sold more than one. So logically there should be someone else out there with it. But, I would think most car owners with a hood like that actually are relatively interested in cars, and therefore would be online.

Oh...as far as making the hood functional....when I first got the car...it bothered me alot that there was no opening.
So I was considering doing something to it like I did to my first formula.
Like:

But then reconsidered, because I didn't like just hacking into my hood and I thought that since the opening would be so large, it might not look as well with the lame "gutter fencing"...Not to mention...I don't want my engine compenents to rust....because the car is driven in rain.
So I left it...and will stay the way it is..
That is unless funds allow for me to do something along the lines of....

Are those some digital guages you 'chopped in that pic? That would be pretty cool. Rex said if there's enoug interest, he'd consider remaking the hood. So if anyone wants to see it a reality..post up!!
BTW 4mul8r...just think of it as you'll be the first one with that hood...we're just copying you!

it's nice, but i don't think you'll have enough people that are seriously interested in laying down the money for one to get it produced. If you're dead set on it, you may have to have a one-off piece custom made for you. Or keep searching for a used one

Yep, those are digital guages to match the digital dash I have. It's way down on my list of car priorities right now...Tomorrow I am hopefully doing an interior swap. It will be the first time I have touched the car since July.
And no...it's not a garage queen....it's been sitting patiently dead in my driveway waiting for the new engine.
Back on the hood topic...if you haven't read some of my old posts, the hood was bought back a few years ago from Baldwin Motion. I don't know if they still produce it or not anymore. I have also heard that they produce a notchback for our cars...I am looking into that somewhat as well since the worker of a local gas station refuses to sell me his notchback gta. He thinks he's going to fix it up for his son...but it hasn't moved from the side of the building since I can remember.
There I've gone straying from the topic again....

Ya, that design would look pretty decent with the lines on your car. Almost looks the an ss hood design.
Here are a few horribly photochopped designs I've always had in mind for the hood. I will probably never have the ***** nor desire to do one of these designs.
with ta stlye vents
with ta style vents moved up
with ta stle vents on side
ta style vents for cowl

that hood would look good on my bird!
Or any 82-84 bird. Looks alot like the Super Bird Hood.

Photoshopped it on my bird....I kinda like it.
