Repairing gfx

what should you use to repair gfx mounting tabs that are cracking....bondo??? or what methods work?

I just bought some 91-92 camaro aero gfx and one mounting tab has completely come off maybe in transit i dunno and two others have cracks 1/2 way across the tabs and i was wondering if bondo could fix it or maybe some kind of fiberglass glue?

Please let me know how to fix this

depends on which construction the gfx is. for the side peices with fiberglass, i used a bondo fiberglass kit to patch it all up. then i just redrilled all the holes. just be sure your mounting surface is still original in location so you don't mess with the mounting angles, do the repair on the down side of the panel.(ground side)

on the front where it is that urathane rubber stuff, there are some specfic product for the repair of those. i belive one is made by fusor, they do have a kit for repairing the tabs on the front bumpers that are the rubber stuff looks like a nice product and easy to use.

the tabs are the mounting tabs on the rocker panels actually its just on one of the rocker panels like two need to be repaired so bondo should do the trick on it...are you sure these are fiberglass they are kinda bendy

on my z28 they were fiberglass, not sure on the gta. scratch a piece of it and you should be able to see what the material is. if it is bendy it may not be fiberglass as mine are quite ridgid.

so is the material the same as the front end of the car? the nose and bumper covers are that urathane plastci stuff that is soft flexable. if that is the case fusor has a tab repair kit that looks really cool. i have a cd with the products on it and how to use them.

this seemed like a real simple process and a good looking end result. do a search on fusor and you should find it out there.

jeff

here ya go maybe someone knows whihc product is the right onw if not i will find my cd and pull up the numbers, it had tab renforcement tape and the adhesive for the repair.
