Wheel Well Rust Solution

hi,i'm new here.
just picked up an 87' iroc-z28.
305 tpi
automatic
102k miles
600 dollars

not bad for 600 dollars. i've never owned a camaro before, and i've always downed 305's. it took me by suprise, pretty fast.

but i have some rust on both of my rear wheel wells, not rot, just surface rust. solid as a rock, but looks ****ty.

this weekend i'm going to sandblast them, and sand it down after that so everything is nice. now after doing this i'm not sure what to do. i've looked on here, and other sites. some people speak of epoxy sealer, some people say other things.

i'm shooting for just to get rid of the rust, and put something over it to cover it up and prevent it from coming back. i won't be getting it professionally painted anytime soon,so i just need something that will PREVENT the rusted spots from coming back, after i sandblast it all.

here's a picture of it,not that great but it works.

PROJECT CAR!!!!!!

Hey if it runs good then you got a great deal man!

You definetly didnt get a straight body camaro though haha. I think that in your love-life with your Camaro you will learn body work, and become a pro You gotta go and get some spray can primer (atleast), sand out ALL that surface rust (and sand off the paint around the rust until you dont see rust anymore), and immediatly spray can primer it.

Over by your door and front quarter panel is going to need some bending back into shape it looks like. When you do that make sure that the car isnt rusting there too.

If your car just needs some rust control then you're in decent shape. Unless the rust is so bad that it is rotting through. Then you may want to go to the junkyard and grab another quarter panel and have it painted body color.

blast it down to bare metal and then paint it with por-15 to prevent the rust from ever coming back again
