i f***ing hate people

well, my mint iroc just got f***ed over this weekend. had it parked at my girlfriends house, and when i came out in the morning i saw the damage. mirror glass all over the ground, and red plastic from some jackass's rear light.

someone backed into the passenger door. there's red scratches all down the door from the *******'s paint, almost the whole length of it, there's a dent below the passenger mirror that is as big around as my hand outstretched, the mirror got ripped off, and pushed back against the car, so there's another big mirror-shaped dent right in front of where the mirror used to be. where that dent it, the door is pushed in about 2 inches, and right before that the door is bowed out, so there's about a foot where there's an inch gap between the door and the window.

so i guess fixing it is out of the question. i'm almost positive i need a new door, but i doubt they can match 17 year old white paint with new paint, so i'll probably need to get the whole car repainted, all new decals, and a new strip going along the bottom of the car. what bull****. the only insurance i have is the kind that covers the other car if i get in a wreck and it's my fault, so my insurance won't cover this.

anyway, any idea what a junkyard door will cost? i need to tally up all the costs and decide if i want to fix it completely, sell it as is, or fix it up a little and sell it. any help is appreciated.

that car represents my life savings, this is, i think, the worst day of my life. i cant even describe how pissed off i am. i'll get pics soon of the car. if i ever find out who was driving the red car that backed up into mine, i'll probably have a couple pics of the bastard lying on the ground with the **** beat out of him. just kidding, i wont post those pics but i'll have them in my personal collection.

sorry for the rage but i'm sure alot of you understand. any help with door pricing is appreciated.

Man, I'd be just as pissed. If I were you, I would cruise around the neighborhood looking for a red car with a tail light out and other matching damage..

yeah i drove around this morning looking for a car with a busted tail light. she lives in a neighborhood that only has like 3 streets, so it's not hard to check out all the cars. last night at midnight my car was fine, and this morning at 9:00 it was all messed up, so my guess is it was somebody on their way to work this morning. i had to leave this morning to come back to school, so when i checked, most of the cars were gone, but next weekend, at night, i'll be checking out all the cars again, and my girlfriend is going to keep her eyes open this week.

i'm not very hopeful that i'll find out who did it, and that i'll get paid for it. i've almost chalked it up as a loss already, but if i find out who did it, somebody's gonna be hurtin

whether or not your car is fully covered or not, you should file it with the police. If anything they can have the neighborhood cops keep an eye out for a car matching your description.

sorry to hear about your car

yes definatly file a police report if anything else when you find them you can turn them in and then sue them for the damages i know it would take forever and not be as fulfilling as beating them down with a baseball bat but if you beat them down then you are going to jail and you wont have a leg to stand on ...well neither will they but thats not the point...LOL

The other persons car was obviously damaged. They will most likely take it to get it fixed. I would call or visit the local shops and ask them to be on the lookout for the red car with damage. Take the police report with you. You may get lucky. Cruise the neighborhood. Also ask some neighbors if they saw a red car that night. Its worth a shot. Dont give up yet.

Damn, sorry to hear about your car....hope you get it all figured out soon! As much as you or anyone else would like to beat someones ***, keep your cool about it....wouldn't be worth it in the end if you go to jail for it.

As for the door- you should be able to get one for less than $100, depending if it's a power door or not.

Off topic- are you still coming to Valdosta? Haven't heard from you in awhile.

Rodney

Is it not too late to file a report now? This happened on Sunday night and I found out about it Monday morning, but I had no time to wait around for a cop to show up to check things out. I was in a big rush to get back to school and had to leave right then.

Can I still call and file a report now that me and my car aren't even in town this week? I don't know how this all works.

Yeah Rodney I'm in Valdosta now, just been too busy with school and a g/f back in Augusta to hit the track yet. Hopefully one of these weekends coming up. Is the strip open year round or does it close in the winter?

Sorry to hear about your troubles... Similar things have happened to me in the past...

Definately file a report with the Police! This way it will be officially documented and if you find out later who it may have been via word of mouth or Body Shop/Ins. records you can reference back to your orig. report and get the matter rectified.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

on the plus side, white IS the easiest color to match with.... so you dont have to get your entire car painted.

I was under the impression white was the hardest to match, since there are so many shades of it.

you wont match it ...a reputable body shop would paint the whole side of the car and feather it in on top and back and front where you would barely notice it at all

I don't know about your state, but a hit while parked should
be a comp loss, check with your ins. co. I understand you have limited collision, but the vehicle WAS legally parked at the time. You will need a police report, however.
Michigan is a no-fault state, and we regularly see this kind of repair with a waived deductible.
Yes any good shop would cover their *** by painting/blending the side. The question you want to ask is, when doing the quarter, will they melt the clear at the sail panel, or clear up and around the roof, and down the other side?
Not much of an issue with white, but the possibility is there for chalking at the blend area.
We have a couple questions on white in this post, It
use to be that white was one of the easier colors, but mike 86sc was right on, there are too many factors now not to blend.

A used door from a salvage yard is no more than $150, including the inner panel, glass, mirror and window regulator. I don't know if this helps, but there is a salvage yard up by me, NJ. The yard I work for deals with them a lot. They're called The Camaro Firebird Shop. They have like 5 doors in stock, one of them is white. $125.00 They may ship it to you. Couldn't hurt to ask. They're number is 1-800-273-1948

Good luck.

have some possible good news. called my insurance company tonight to see if this would be covered, and the guy i talked to said that while i don't have full coverage, this might possibly be covered under the uninsured motorist insurance that i have. it's not exactly a case of uninsured motorist, but he said to file a police report, and the claims investigator at the company would look into it and make a decision, so maybe i'll get this paid for! i'll call the police department tomorrow and find out to file a report

They're supposed to close down the end of this month for the season...not sure when they'll open back up. I'm in the middle of doing a gear swap and other little things right now so I don't think I'll be ready to go anyway. I'll probably go to Gainesville in the meantime. Hit me up whenever you get a chance.

That's right. Here in AZ, uninsured coverage will also cover hit and run. So hopefully your insurance agent is not a idiot and can see that this was a hit and run basically. Good luck!

if its not covered you might not have to repaint the entire car. i have an 86 white camaro that was hit. the body shop got the new paint exact. saved a lot of money.
