Console removal?

Has anyone ever thought about removing the center console of there camaro and remaking the interior similar to the older camaro's (with a stickshift surrounded by boot, and no console)

No, but I would like to see the old 69 handle shifter in a 3rd gen.

Where would you put the stereo head unit and A/C controls?
Would you still want a glove box?

I use my car primarily as a toy. Car shows, scca racing, and open track events. I also like a very simple look. I've pulled out the back seats and built a back seat delete tray, and my thought was to cut the console at the point where the stereo and heater controls are, leaving them. Then blocking off the end and relocating the power window switches there.

Interesting.
If the console is in good condition you may consider selling it. Or at least the glove box lid.
I've wanted to take those rear seats out of mine to make better "dog seats". That's all the area is good for.

I've been removing interior parts and storing them. Thats my plan for the console. I'll find anouther one in the junkyard and store my nice one.
