Rearview hindsight

I just had to replace my rearview mirror button and mirror mount, though not tightened, I thought I'd relate I did this while it was near freezing and dipping below over night. I used the suggestion of masking tape, which I left on my dash ...just in case, but happy to report it seems to have worked well. I taped the button, after gluing, for about 12 hours, then dropped the mirror back on.

what type of glue did you use. I've tried time and time again. everything from crazy glue to epoxy to the stuff they sell you at the auto parts store. have tried getting a new button... everything.

They actually make rear view mirror glue. Look for that at auto parts stores.

My g-friends used to fall off yearly. The last time I fixed it, I made sure I used a lot of rubbing alcohol on the spot where I was going to re-mount the button, scuffed it lightly with a green pad and then used 1 small drop of JB Weld. I taped it with masking tape for about 12 hours and it has not fallen back off in 3 years of being parked outside in the Arizona heat.

haven't tried JBweld... I'll give that a try. I didn't think it'd stick to glass.
