Custom Gauge cluster for firebird
Hey i was wondering if anyone has made one of these to accomidate aftermarket gauges, or if there is a company that sells one. I know Dakota Digital Sells one for Camaros, but i dont think that will fit a firebird unless i switch the dash. Im gonna be doing a completely digital dash, with a pillar digital gauges too. if that make a difference. Thanx
P.S. Pics would be awesome

We made one a few weeks ago for my dad's 82 bird. We had alot of aftermarket gauges laying around so we used them.
3-3/8" digital speed
4" dash mount auto meter street tach
2-5/8" autometer volt and oil psi
2-1/16" digital fuel level and water temp.
All put into the stock bezel.
We cut a pc. of sheet metal, cut gauge holes in them, cut a pc. of plastic and cut holes for gauges in it
Drilled through the stock bezel and sheet metal in the coners, put small bolts and taps
drilled the side centers of the plactic and used L brackets to bolt it to the space in the bezel where the center vents are.
Here's some pics...

Here's 1 more pic. This is of the panel semi done.
BTW.. I didnt use a bunch of fancy tools to make it.
A drill, jig saw to cut it all, a die grinder to open up the holes and make the gauges fit ( you could use a drill with a 1/4" shank grinding stone in it), thats about it.
You could use any type of aftermarket gauges you wanted too. We just used what we had here on hand.
I dont think it turned out too bad IMO. Heck I like it myself

In that last pic, the speedo and tach looks off center pretty bad, but when I finished tightening the screws down it pulled it back almost dead center in the holes.
