camaro headlight assembly
Does anyone know where you can buy those "cups" that are behind the headlights, the things that the 4 screws mount into? What would they be called? I ask because mine are complete rust, and it would be a shame to put those back on my camaro after just getting it painted. If I can't find a place to buy them new, I'm guessing I'll have to either go to a junkyard and look at cars w/ 4 headlight setups, or grind them down and cover them w/ some POR15, but I think that would be more trouble than it's worth to do all that. Any suggestions?

everything is already apart as the front bumper cover has not yet been reinstalled since I painted the car. i just need to know what the "part" is called and if I can get it aftermarket or new from somewhere. maybe i didn't explain it well. if you look at a headlight, it has two parts around it. a flat black frame that holds the headlight in with 4 screws and the other half that these 4 screws go into. the half that "cups" around the back of the headlight is what I am looking for.

The headlight "buckets" are usually found all over junk yards, in 3rd Gens, and older GM trucks that use the same size headlights. They're always in good shape around here, east coast roads must eat them up? I could probably send you a pair for like $15 or so

Yarr, though upon further inspection it might be salvageable, going to get some kerosene and a wire brush and see how well it cleans up, if it seems alright I'll paint it or otherwise coat it, same with the bezels/retainers, but those aren't rusted really, just look like crap since they're bare metal. Any suggestions on a tough corrosion resistant coating?

Wow, my post from 5 years ago has been revived. I would put some POR-15 on them for a corrosion-resistant coating if you are looking to refinish them.

Looking to be my only choice, I looked everywhere, summit, GM official parts, napa, autozone, advanced auto, and probably several I'm forgetting. But upon re-inspection I think they can be salvaged, assuming that none are worse than the one I removed, going to get some kerosene and a wire brush see what happens and go from there, if the metal seems to be intact still, that's what I'll do. Don't really want to roll the dice on finding used ones, esp without a car to drive atm..had to junk my DD, and the things are a PITA to remove.
edit: henry, just saw your reply if thats $15 for all four and they have 0-to very minimal rust I'll take you up on that, they should fit in a flat rate box, so I figure only $5 for shipping, let me know how many that's for and what kind of condition, pics would be nice if possible.

I don't know if I have more than a pair, they all have pretty much the same "normal" rust, and good luck getting them in a $5 flat rate box. Yours are probably fine with a little cleaning up. I'll look around and check though, maybe I've got four
