How can I remove a locked T-Top without the key
How can I remove a locked T-Top without the key
I bought a Formula and from what I can tell so far I got it for a really good deal. The only problem is that the driver side T-top is locked and the key doesn't work with it. Can anyone think of a good way to get it out without too much hassle? I've got another top that I can use so I don't mind destroying it if I have to. I just don't know how to go about getting it out.

I think if you remove the 3 screws in the plastic vinyl cover, and remove that piece, You can get in there and work the lock loose. The lock is pretty cheap anyway.

call a lock smith??
the only thing i can think is to call a lock smith out and they can match the pins and get it open. might be pretty expensive

I done it in a Junk Yard. I found a great headliner and a very good deal on it ($15), but had to take it off myself. I didnt want to go back home to get tools, so all I had was 1 small flade blade screw driver and my pocket knife.
It took me about 35 min to pull the headliner out. 20 of those was to get the locked T-top off.
If you look at the lock, look close, you'll see a small "U" clip around the lock. Pop that clip out, now take the 3 screws out holding the plastic cover panel onto the T top, You may have to take the screw out of the T top handle, then remove handle, then with that pulled down/out of the way, you'll see another little clip hooking the rod thing to the back of the lock, remove it, now take lock out, and pull handle on T top and lift top off.
Doing at home, with more tools than a small flat blade and a pocket knife, you should be able to do it in 10 min easy.

Ditto with Nightrider.
I got my extra set of tops the same way. Took the locks to a locksmith and had them re-pinned to match my trunk key for a few bucks.
