Getting Rid Of Pop Up Headlight?

As many of the members here have expressed their own feelings towards the pop up headlights (& Motors) on the Firebirds. Well i thought about possibly starting a project and if yall thought that it might work. I would like to get rid the whole pop up system and install a smaller rectangle light inplace of it with the skin on top (to where it still looks like it is a pop up). I am going to work up a drawing of it so that yall might know more if what i am talking about.

Looks like stock TA hood with a few modifications. I think I'm going to be tackling a project like this very soon. I plan on hitting a boneyard Monday to find some parts.

I'm going to ditch the look of the pop-ups completely though. Going to get a fiberglass hood without the pop-up sections cut out.

IIRC, the concencus was the fenders on the firebird slope down more then the camaro fenders, so the hood would not fit. But I may be remembering wrong.
