seat bolts why do they rust?

seat bolts why do they rust?

why do the seat bolts and the metal in the center console rust? i'm installing 4th gen seats and is there a way to prevent the bolts from rusting?

Condensation. 20 years ago manufactures’ didn't go to the length's that they do now to prevent fasteners from rusting. Most of those fasteners you find now are all coated in zinc.

i was thinking...like my old truck that had all rusted seatbelt bolts, it went straight through the floorpan and im guessing water or condensation stayed on it under there rusting through...then again that was my toyota pick-up, they are rust buckets to start with

i dunno if camaro seats bolt all the way through or not?

they rust because they're bare, unprotected metal.

i put a GM satin black on my seat nuts, the studs that come thru the carpet, and on the "tabs" of the seat that you can see...


looks like it came that way, and i dont have to worry about thoes stupid plastic cover pieces...
