what headliner?

i need a new headliner, as the fiberboard or whatever was factory in my 91 needs some work. the guys who put the cage in last week tore up the back half so it has to be replaced. looking for some suggestions of how to replace it, either with similar board or the plastic version. any suggestions of what material to use as far as either of the two and where to get it would be nice. i've done some searching, but there hasn't really been much said on this question.

i'm recovering in suede, not sure if that matters...

thanks.

I would just buy one of the abs plastic ones they run around 125-150 and it will last a very long time.

thank you. just out of curiosity the one pictured has an indentation in the center. my headliner was completely flat. is this normal? i want a nice, flat one. i could rework it if needed but just curious if they are all like this?

the i've read that they also come rolled up in a box? sounds a bit odd for plastic, is it that thin?

thanks.

Um, I am not sure as I do not have a hardtop, nor a headliner from there. My buddy has a t top headliner, and I will check the abs on his. Maybe you could call these guys and ask them? I would feel bad if you ordered it and wasnt up to your expectations, as your cars NEVER dissappoint.

goodluck.

I think an ABS headliner would be the best solution... I have never had my hands on one yet but from the pics I've seen they look like a decent piece. The only trick will be getting it in with the roll cage installed.... I had a hell of a time doing mine.

I had an ABS headliner, although mine was a t-top, and yes it does come rolled up in a box.

I ordered mine from Hawks. Very nice piece, and it was rolled up.
The only issue I had was the rolled up part. They used tape to keep it rolled up inside the box it was shipped in and the tape caused the plastic to have a bend on the front lip. I bent the plastic in the oppisite direction for several days, but it never came out. Anyone thats gets in my car doesn't even notice it, but the fact that you know it's there annoys the hell out of you.

i'd like to know if they are all like the link above with the indentations in the roof where the dome light is or if that's just 1aauto.com's?

The one from Hawks has the indentation. The one I bought from them is the coupe model.

Im not trying to bug you but I'm suprised that with your great work on your car you never replace the headliner. I mean that car was sweet, it had a mint interior.

he sold that car can't wait to see the new one though Jeff I think this is the cheapest place that i seen that had the boards. I know price isn't your thing, but I think all the ABS ones have the raised center. That's why i was asking if the center console still fit right. I'm figuring where it's thinner it sits alot closer to the roof than the original but still has to go across the center roof support beam. This is the cheapest place to get that i found i haven't ordered yet though. But i guess if you don't like it your not out $250 and some odd dollars instead just $130 or so but it all depends if you want it covered or want to cover it yourself.

you are not bugging me at all, my last car had a mint interior. my new project was in great condition but the headliner was "burnt" in the rear when the 6 pt. cage was installed calling for a new headliner... it's all part of the game. i wish i didn't have to deal with it but i do..

it happens.

and i appreciate it... i do want to recover it myself. however i still want the "stock" feal to it. i don't want any pre-88 headliner styles, nor the "T-bar" look. i just want a simple, yet smooth headliner. at the worst case scenario i can alter it with some work but i'd rather it be smooth, hense the thread. I appreciate it all though, thank you.

I've heard no mention of an overhead console. How are you gonna remember when it is CELEBRATION time?
