Actual when it comes to drag coef., .336 to .24 is a significant difference.

I have a book about the development of the '82 TA and it says the drag coefficient is 0.323. The standard Firebird has 0.333. It also says if you lower the Trans Am's nose by an inch it will then be 0.30. It said Pontiac couldn't market it like that though due to ride height requirements.

It's called

Pontiac's Third Generation Firebird & Trans Am
by Martyn L. Schorr.

Quicksilver Supercar Series ISBN-0-940346-11-7
Published 1982 Quicksilver Communications, Inc.

It's got some cool photos in it, alot of early prototype photos.

FYI:

'88 Grand Prix was .299 by the way. Then they went to quad headlamps and non-shrouded wipers in what - '91? I liked the earlier ones better, but the 3.4 wasn't available yet. However, you could always get the early ones with the turbo 3.1...
