Ram Air Hood
Ram Air Hood
I have an 87' GTA and I'm looking to put a hood on there, the ram air one. If I go to a junk yard and find a newer model like from 98' to present, can I modify that a bit and put it on my GTA for a cheaper price? Thanks

Unless you are an excellent sheetmetal worker the answer is no. It's hard enough just to get an aftermarket fiberglass ones to fit. The fabrication, cutting and welding skills it takes to make a real ram air scoop work on a third gen would be excessive. But, if you got the skills go for it. You'd be a better man than me.

I would imagine that if you did find a hood in a junk yard it would be just that, junk. I am sure if you were lucky enough to find a car like that the hood would be messed up. Besides most junk yards want a pretty penny for the good stuff and then you still have to remold it, so you might as well buy the actual hood that fits our cars. I got mine on ebay from ASCD inc. for $415. I say just buy a bood and save the troubles!
