Frame/Subframe repair

Hi, I own a 91 Camaro RS, and it's starting to rust out in the back. I was wondering if anyone knew roughly how much it could cost nowadays to get the subframe/frame of the car repaired (The rust that is). The minimum (A little sheetmetal welding) and maximum (Full frame and subframe replacement) costs would be great.

Wow....that's a really open ended question. 1st, ThirdGens don't have subframe/frames, they are just a subframe car....aka unibody construction. 2nd, there's really not an easy way to completely replace the subframe on a ThirdGen, as it is welded to the car. It really wouldn't be cost effective to do it either, even if you had the new parts. The best way to get a price quote is to go the the professional who you are going to have do the work and ask them. Everyone here is going to have thier own opinion about what is gonna be needed and what should be charged. It really comes down to how much work you are planning on having done. You mentioned a very wide range of work to be done, from some simple welding of new sheetmetal to the complete replacement of your subframes. There is no real easy way to quote a price on something that you have never seen, especially when there is not description of what really needs to be done. Check locally with a professional welder or body shop that does frame work. Check at several places and get estimates. Most places will do estimates for free. Shop around and remember that the cheapest isn't always the worst and the most expensive isn't always the best. Check to see what kind of quality of work they do and base your decision on that. Good Luck

Re: Frame/Subframe repair

the front ones are removable or no? I was hoping to take them off and powder coat them, but if not I guess I'll use some chassis black eastwood stuff or something
