ugly stuff around t-top

another t-top question. this time its a little different. there are no leaks or anything. but there this sort of stripping stuff on the outside (on top) of my t-tops. it is shredding and an orange tubing is coming out. looks nasty. i would post pics if i had a camera and the know-how to upload them. so u guys know what this stuff's called? what its for? who sells it? and even if i could do without it? thanks.

Sounds like the t-tops are an aftermarket set made by Cars and Concepts. Mine are doing the same thing and the only place that carries replacement parts for those is The Sunroof Doctor and be prepared to be shocked when you see the pricing.

They are called T-Top "P" Seals

These are the felt strips that go across the front & rear of t-tops.

Just tried to get a pic or two and they didn't turn out right. That group will have everything you need to get the t-tops back right.

The "p" seals Klortho mentioned is the part you need that has the 'orange tubing' poking through. They are part of the trim on the body that covers the hack in the roof from where the tops were cut in. Replacement is the only option if you're planing to kep and use the tops.
The other option is to clear silicone them in like the previous owner did to my old (ex) 84 camaro (oddly, they leaked worse sealed up than after I peeled all the slicone out and used them as normal).
Sucks to own oddball tops...

yep thats them, but it doesnt seem (to me) that they serve a purpose. because they dont make a good seal around the t-tops, and my t-tops dont leak (luckily). they are ran under that trim. so would this be a fairly easy fix? and where do i find them? (i still cant find them on that site.)

BTW did u say that your old ttops were siliconed in? or the "p" seals were?

EDIT: i found them on sunroofdoctor. they $43.?? each, and i need two

I pulled that ugly orange tubing right on out. My tops still dont leak. The only thing those were good for were flailing behind me while driving on the highway, and making me look like a retard. They come out in two long pieces anyway...pull em! lol

The P seals are actually there to help with the sealing of the t-tops. When mine went out, it started leaking a bit around them.

I took mine off years ago.Still no leaks to date. They are more for keeping excess dirt/water or debree out of the channels.Perhaps so water doesnt build in there up when it rains or washing your car. They also just stick on, the back has an adhesive.
