Reinstalling firebird headlights - The whole thing

I've searched a lot and only found posts on the motor going out.

I need to know how to put firebird headlights in (On an 87 Trans Am). The passenger side was destroyed in the wrecked that caused this whole thing, so it came out in pieces, and the body shop guy took the other out (When I only had the one, so he didn't put it back in for whatever reason.)

I would like to know how to put these things in! Diagrams would be nice, too.

Thanks!

hey man, it's pretty striaght forward... there's basicly 4 bolts that hold it on.... 2 that go in the bottom and are kind of hard to get at... and then on the top there's 2 L shaped bracket which i'd assume are still attached to the light or the car that holds the top of it and allows for adjustment... if this isn't enough to get you going let me know and i'll take some pictures ....

have u looked at it to see where they go? .... if not... take it out and see where they are... then finger tighten the top bolts and move it around until u see it line up with the holes in the bottom...I used an extension and a 10mm socket :-) ...it's a lil tight but certainly not impossible...

Raise the headlight bucket. Use a T15 torx tip and remove the 4 screws holding on the black plastic trim bezel. The two lower bolts are removed or installed with the a 10mm socket on a 3/8 drive. Use a universal and a socket extension. You can either put the bolt in the 10mm socket and carefully install it or squeeze your hand in between the headlight and bumper cover to start the lower bolts. If your 3/8 universal flops around too much set it to the angle you need and wrap it with electrical tape. Once you've got the headlight bucket reinstalled you can adjust how much it closes by turning the stop which is a white plastic hex shaped nut. Reinstall the plastic trim bezel.

Good luck,

Lon

Bolting them in is the easy part. The fun part is spending hours adjusting them so your gaps are even with the hood and bumper.

Don't forget to adjust the actual headlight beam too. What I do is take a car with properly adjusted headlights and turn them on facing my garage door. Mark the locations on the door with tape (and measure how far the car was from the door). Then take the other car, park it in the same spot and adjust the headlights so they shine on the tape marks from the first car. Works for me.

I've got to go pick the other one up, but if you could come by some time, that'd be great. Thanks!
