interior lights dont work

After I had an after market CD player installed, my interior lights don't work. The dash, and climate control, nothing. Is this a common problem with new CD players? What are some possibilitys to fix this problem?
thanks!!

Like the guages don't light up? Check for a short on the dimmer wire (orange). I had the same problem. There is a 5A fuse under the dash if I remember correctly.

if you had the thing installed by a place like best buy they may very will have unhooked the wire by accident. I know when i had my installed they disconnected the climate controls. had no heat. no ac. nothing. fan would not even come on.. and then i had a few other problems like my carpeting being all messed up and my back seats not fitting properly...

I dunno if they screwed up the wireing becuase they sometimes work, and they sometimes don't.

that sounds like a loose ground somewhere. so it is posible then that they may have messed it up and not connected a ground back tightly.. might want to check all the grounds for your lights i suppose.. Diferent cars have different setups so i can not help you alot there.. I have like 15 ground wires for some reason under my dash.. but then i have full electric everything.

Hi ALP,
What kind of 3rd gen you got? Reason I ask is that as well as the 5A fuse for the gauges, there's probably a 20A fuse for the interior lights too (just to the left of the 2 large, metal covered window motor fuses).

Mark.

if the dimmer wire hit ground with the headlights on, it will blow the fuse for the dash lights. go back to whoever did the radio and call them a bunch of incompitent idiots... if you did it, then you wired it improperly. i dont remmeber the dimmer wire color off the top of my head, but if you turn your headlights on, and use a test light, you can find the wire easily. There may be 2 wires ( a dimmer, and illumination) make sure neither are connected to your radio, and are taped off so they dont hit ground and cause this problem again. And it blew your 5A illumination fuse BTW
