Gas Cap Situation!

I have a small problem...i'd like any advice I can get. When I first bought my 87 Camaro, it had a small hole in the gas tank. So, I bought a replacement 14 gallon tank, part number: GM2721A. It didn't come with a gas cap, and the one I have does not fit properly. When I fill the tank, gas splashes up the filler neck and eventually dribbles down the side of my car. Now, I didn't care so much at that point, but i'm picking my car up from getting painted tomorrow! I'm a little distressed over the idea of gasoline dumping on my new paint! Can anyone help me find the appropriate cap? Or a solution on how to make the current one work? Thanks!

Upon searching for that part number, it says:

Requires 80-87 Finer threaded Gas cap

That's all I know, sorry

Thanks buddy, I appreciate all help. I'm going to go on a search for the correct cap. I tried going to the source which is a company called American Designers, but they only seemed to have caps for first generation tanks. But again, thanks!

Just go to Schmucks and ahve them look up in their computer what cap you need. It's a stock style tank, right?
