What exactly are you asking? It looks like the bird on yours is fine. I believe there were only silver and gold, except for the '84 15th anniversary edition, it was blue and white. Mine is gold...but my TA is black with gold bottom trim. I would guess that gold only came on black and gold cars, and the recaro...but they are all black and gold anyway. If you want to remove it, you'll have to pry it out, unless there is a hole in the back. I've never removed my center piece. It's just a couple strips of double sided tape holding it in anyway.

thats not a pic of mine..
its pic from ebay one..
i deleted the pic now, so forget the pic even existed,.,.
i need to know what colors they were and if they are a sticker or what
please tell me everything about the 82 84 trans am taillights center piece birds,,
mine is missing, as i said above..... if you read it
i want to know what color the bird should be.. with a blue exterior and black gfx and spoiler and everything..
and also where i may find one of them ?
center piece bolts to the car, its not stuck on lol
it tucks under the inner ends of the taillight assemblies
four holes on the flanges of it, the taillights studs go through it
taillights hold the center panel on the car
really all i want is one simple answer, what color should it be and what is it exactly- sticker or piece or what
maybe no one here knows, which would be pretty sad.., but..
thanks

sorry bud, i have an 88, but i can tell you that the original decal that was on mine looks like it was painted on the inside. the center piece is clear with a decal painted inside and then painted black. i know this because i sanded mine down, cut out my own decal, placed it in, painted it, removed the decal, painted it transparent red, hooked up some lights, and now it glows red when my parking lights are on. I even added my screen name (eagle_eyes) under the bird. LUXOR gave me the idea.
look in classic industries...they have a lot of decals for that kind of thing. or call them and they can tell you.

Exept the 82-84 taillight center piece is solid. Its not transparent like the 85-90 taillights are. Like he said, ours have the bird painted on the inside. You, on the other hand, have an opaque piece with a sticker. You'd have to convert to the 85-90 style taillights in order for that to work.

"I first bought a few extra center sections of e-bay to practice on. These pieces are made of clear plastic that is painted on the inside. I used sand paper to remove the paint on the inside. Then progressively went up in grit to (if I remember right, this was 3 years ago) to about 1500 maybe 2000 wet sand. Remember to always sand in the same direction. I found a pic of the firebird on the net and saved it as a .jpg and modified it to the size I needed and then printed it. Using this as an outline I traced it onto some adhesive backed vinly (thin) I bought at a local art supply store to create a decal and then cut the bird out. I then peeled of the backing paper and positioned and pressed it into place on the back side of the center section. Then all you have to do is spray paint the back side with a flat black until you achieve a good dense even coat. After it has thoroughly dried I slowly remove the vinly bird decal (may have to cut along its edges) and then sprayed multiple coats of a transparent metallic red like that is used for the lexan bodies for radio controlled cars. I had an extra rear light harness for my car so I removed the two brake light sockets and wired them behind the cover. So the bird lights with the park lights turned on but also function as do the brake lights when the pedal is pressed. It is time consuming to remove the paint from the back side but by taking your time you will ensure the best results."
this is his car...mine looks the same, but the bird's head is facing the other way and my screen name is under it.
