If anybody wants to do this, the only way to I found to remove the assembly is to bend the crap outta the arm. As in pull it towards you. Errrrrrrrrr. Also use a stout bungee cord to hold up the window. Can't beat $25 for a new window lift and diy install though, the price was right but **** man, if I had money I would let somebody else do it.

Okay, I am halfway done but must goto work...

Use a combination of Fast Orange, Dishsoap, and 15 min of scrubbing to remove the factory goo. This stuff is somekind of super grease that is sticky as hell and wont come off your skin.

I am not sure why everyone has such a hard time with these.
I swapped out 1 motor w/o even taking the door panel all the way off. It took 25 min. I just bent and proped the lower portion up, the panel did not want to come off)
Of course I used the easy, aka: hack, method:
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...dow+motor+hack
Of course if you do it this way you can't really clean and properly lube your tracks, and car's value will drop by 80%

GM power windows are a PITA for third gens. They are poorly designed, slow, and break down as often as you change your underwear. If I really had my choice, I would go with the good ole crank windows. They only way they break down is if your arm is broken!

If I had to do this again, I wouldn't stress out as much. Its just something new I haven't seen before. Figuring out the tracks was a brainer, but i got it figured out now. I had to learn sometime. I can't wait to learn body work, thats going to be interesting.

sounds tough, but about previous owners, they suck. the guy I bought mine from thought he could paint and do body-work....he couldn't, I ended up paying over $1000 just to remove what he had done, it looked he did it with a brush and roller.

Are you replacing the motors or your entire window? I replaced both of mine and once I figured out how to do it, the work was really easy and went quickly. It's really not that much work.

I just replaced one motor. It was my first time. The only real trick I think is the bend the lift arm to sneak the whole assembly out. I was trying to avoid bending anything for about 30 minutes of struggling and sweating my ballz off. So I said screw it and bend the bar and it came right out. Plus the grease was really nasty stuff to have on your hands, my glass is covered in that stuff from trying to reposition it. Another life saver for my loaner butt was a bungee cord to hold of the freakin window, plus it was adjustable. I should take some pics of that mess. I have yet to bolt the motor to the door tomorrow

Axle/Gears: I should know this
When I installed my power windows there was no bending of anything needed...

For me the hardest part was getting those stupid rivets out. But a chizzle and a hammer fixed that problem ^_^.

You guys are right about that grease... it's a PITA...
