my door hinges on both sides are worn out to the point that a hinge pin kit from autozone would'nt fix.

I bought a kit with the brass bushings to replace the badly worn originals, while having the original pins out and I started to place a bushing in the top part of the hinge I noticed the pin hole has wallowed out so bad the new bushing would just fall through.
I installed the pins and bushings anyway but only a small improvement. the doors still drop when I open them, and the pins and bushings I installed look a little to loose.

could I drill out the pin holes to make them perfectly round and install a much larger pin and bushing?

 

Here is what i did. I replaced the body side hinge $80 dollers. i bought a pin and bushing kit. my door side hinge was worn out also so i drilled it out a little i put the extra bushings in the drilled out holes, grinded off the lip of the bushing. works great. Also replace upper hinge with greasable hinge. the door closes with two fingers.

 

Weld the damaged hinge pin holes and then redrill to the correct size. Its not a big deal. I had the same problem with my '71 T/A on the driver's side door.
