Doors are hard to shut
Getting the car back together. Got all new weatherstriping and door bumpers. You have to slam the doors to get them to shut all the way. They have been closed for about 2 weeks, thinking the weatherstripping needed to break in. But you still have to slam the doors, even with the window down.
Can anything be done to fix this?

What company made your weather-strip? GM is by far the best, the Metco brand I got shows a little of the hard-to-shut problem, but overall they are nice.

Yeah, metco, metro..heh. The only thing I noticed on mine is that since the holes where the screws go through do not have a washer of any type, you really have to rely on the adheasive to put it in the right spot.
It's the big molded pieces on the ends that are going to give you fits, especially the front ones. I put them on with adheasive and the taped the crap out of them to keep them in place. Then I shut the door and let them sit for a day. Came back, took the tape off and then put the screws in. Aside from the passenger side being slightly out of place they work well. After a couple of weeks the passenger side now closes fine.

Yeah, they are gluesd on, been on for a couple weeks. Doors have been shut. I am wondering if it is something else. A lot of these cars ,even with old worn out striping, the doors are hard to shut. Should I be looking at the hinges, latches, ?

If it's a 'bouncy' hard to shut then it's the weatherstrip. If it a 'hard metal' hard to shut it's the hinges. Close it just enough to get an eye on it. See if the door molding lines up on the door and the body. If the door molding is lower than the body molding, you have worn hinges.
New weatherstrip can exagerate a worn hinge.
Good luck.
