Shift ****?
My friend was talking to me about how awesome the car show was recently (Worchester) and he noticed the shifter ***** being sold we awesome. He told me that on top of the ball it said camaro on it.
I will soon be getting a T56 and am wondering where to get a good looking one.
I did a photoshop of what popped into my head when he was explaining it.

In my 92 and in a 4th gen firebird (yours should probably be the the same) the auto shift **** just has a clip in the back off the **** down towards the bottom, you can feel it with your hand.
Just jam a screw driver in under it and pop the clip out then the shifter should slide right off.

Thanks for the replies gents, here is what I found.
On the 86 you have to pull the button out of the top (just a tension fit) and there is a snap ring inside the ball to remove.
Lets see if I post these pics right:

No clip in the front of this years ****. Well now that this is clear, I have to go rig up some lighting and get to work pulling out the console!
Have a good night gents, talk to you tomorrow!

I've also got a question about the shift ****. Mine is pretty rough on my 86 which is an auto, the leather is all scratched up. I was wondering if i could replace it with a newer one like the factory one in my 95 auto?

heres a picture of my shift ****, it's kind of long but looks good in there ( at least i think so) it was a pain putting it in though because if i put it in first it would hit so i crammed a little plastic thing in the top.
