Need turn signal replacement help
Where can I find the special U-Shaped tool that is used to compress the steering column lock plate or should I fabricate a tool to use? I don't want to buy one but I will if I must! It just don't seem like it is a tool I'll ever need much.
I bought a New turn signal switch to replace the worn out and faded one on the TA. I have been buying and stockpiling new switches and other interior parts to replace once I start restoration. BUT MY TURN SIGNAL BROKE SO, I have to do that now!

You can just rent the tool at any auto parts store, instead of buying it. You need what is called a steering wheel lock plate compressor (sometimes called a steering wheel plate puller or steering wheel retaining ring compressor).
It looks just like this:

I found one at the local autozone. They want $15 to rent it. My son-in-laws dad is a mechanic for the city of Warner Robins, Ga. and he just returned my phone call. I fiqured if anyone had one, he would and HE did. Let's get it up for son-in-law-fathers!!
Now, is there anything in paticular I should watch for while performing this operation?
