1992 Hatch Release

I took a look at my hatch release and the button that electronically releases it pushes the hatch up but doesnt release it. I suspect that the hatch release is broken. Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it or if i need to just replace it. If anyone has any ideas on where to find a hatch assembly for a 1992 firebird (it has to be 1992, it cant be from a year prior to that), it would be greatly appreciated. Please email @ cdubtmgolfer06@aol.com

just pull the hatch up once it gets to the top

then replace your hatch struts

My 92 Camaro does the same. When you push the button, the motor goes up, but then it pulls back down before it releases. I've got new struts too. Even when the struts were shot it didn't do that.

You may be able to fix yours with a dead one, if you find one with a dead motor you should be able to get the piece you need out of it or transfer your motor to that housing. There is a little plastic piece that gets hit when its on the way up that unlatches it on the 92's and thats what is broken or missing from yours.

mine does that just push the release and then quickly lift the hatch and it will be fine if you wait too long it will recatch and pull it down

Yours the struts are just toast as someone else said, its not getting enough push to move away. When the little internal plastic piece is broken or missing it will cycle but never actually unlatch, dont care how much you pull up while having someone push the button it will not open.
