Window motor Installation

Well, I've been struggling with this for about a week. Upon initially removing the motor, I failed to mark the "gear selector". Installing the motor the first time, I used rivets that were too long, which hit the regulator and only allowed the window to crack. Today, I cut the rivet to make it smaller in the door, and they went in fine, however the gear was not in the right spot (again), causing the window to only crack once again. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to install it once, and install it right? It seems the only way I can possibly get the runners in the guides, and have the holes lined up, the gear is nearly 5/6 the way "up". Ugh. If anyone is local and happends to want to supervise my efforts, or even if someone on this board has had a similar problem installing the motor, feel free to share. I've cut my hands all to crap pulling the motor in and out of the service hole. I'd post pics, which would probably help in my dellima if i had a camera.

to summarize the situation: The window only cracks because it runs out of gear, and I cant figure out how to set it up on the tracts and line the motor up with the mounting holes any other way. Thanks. -Victor

Okay, I did a little search and found https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...rwindows.shtml It doesnt exactly explain my question, however. Also, I doubt that just given a paragraph on the words, therefore:

Now the question is: At what point and I doing this wrong? I imagine the motor should be almost 3/4 the way "down" while the window is pulled totally up. It's probably a simple geometry problem that I fail to recognize, or maybe I need to slide the motor around in the railings to get it right.

Also, How much of the gear should be sticking out at the top of the motor while the window is in the "rolled up" position?

PS. Thoes regulators are SHARP, after 3 days of working on this, I feel as though I really need to soak them in neosporin, or purchase mechanics gloves . Thanks in advance if you're considering responding to this thread.

-Painfully tired.
