you talking about the **** for the lights? Or the dimmer switch on the column? if its the dimmer switch on the column which I'm guessing is what your wanting just yank on it straight out. Be careful if you have cruise control not to yank to far.

Had this problem myself one time, it's rather simple. First, to get the button off, feel around for a little metal tab behind it. Push it up with a small screwdriver, button is off. Then, to get the rod out , if you look, it's a triangle rod that goes to a box. On the bottom of the box is a small pin. Push the pin up (rahter hard) and the rod should pop out.

this has been covered many times. Don't just yank on the headlight button if you have a 91-92. If you do the **** will come off but you won't be able to reinstall the button and will have to replace the headlight switch. Instead reach underneath and push the release button and pull the entire rod out. The yank method did work on my '86 but not my '92.
