headliner install problems

Hi all,
Im having a hell of a time installing a headliner in an 86 IROC. Its an aftermarket ABS plastic covered headliner. It looks like it should fit perfect and lines up in the back and the front but sags down about 1 1/2"-2" where the dome light goes. The dome light is not strong enough to keep it up there. Anyone got any ideas? Did i install this wrong? Thanks for any help u can give.

Ive thought of that too but i don't know how well it would hold in the long run. I would rather the headliner be right up against the roof so that i don't have to do that. Im wondering if i installed it wrong or something. I cant see how but its more probable than the headliner being incorrectly made.

I think when I just took mine out there was some adhesive that was holding it around the dome light. I would shy away from velcro and just do the adhesive.

I took the little push clips that hold the dome light in, and placed them on the work bench and tapped them with a hammer to flatten them a bit. I had to use some pliers to get them back over the studs, but the hold it up tight now.

Hope that makes sense.
