what to do?
recently my car was stole from my home I got it back the same day four blocks away but when the thief’s stole the car they hit my moms van took out her bumper smashed up my car I need a new door and fender but I am wondering about the rear quarter
Should I just put a full quarter or let the insurance fix it I really don’t want a lot of bondo on this car. Also the engine is ticking really badly now. Any help would be cool

I don't see that as too bad of a hit on the quarter. you should be able to bang out most of the dents and then do a skim coat of bondo to get it smooth.

if you plan to go tru the insurance tey may total your car. our cars dont hold a very ugh value and insurance companies, at least in my state total at 80 percent of the value. i deal with this stuff all te time you may b better paying out of pocket. as for te damade, it doesnt look too bad. throw on a used door and fender, the quarter can be hammered out as said earlier and then a thin skim of bondo. hope this helps.

Replace the quarter. It's looks like you got a fair amount of rot there anyway
If it DOES happen to go through your insurance be aware that they MAY charge you "betterment" on the quarter. Which is to say, "we recognize that the car was damaged..and we owe you for the loss...BUT...it DID have prior rust damages ...AND it DID need to be painted anyway..."

wow i was just rereading my post before and it has come to my attention that the H key on my computer sticks. anyway i would definalty replace the quarter. i deal with the insuance companies everyday and your best bet it to prolly pay out of pocket. its really a huge hassle to reregister a salvaged car, if you decide to keep it if they total it. just buy a new quarter and get the rest of the parts from the junk yard. it shouldnt b to much to fix doing it like that. id have someone with experience hang the quarter but everything else aside from paint anyone could easily do with simple and tools.

I wholeheartedly agree...Insurance companies are usually a P.I.T.A. to deal with..I too, have day to day dealings with them and they are, sometimes, so beauracratic and pig-headed, you just want to scream. However, as a whole, if you take the time to look at it as if you are paying the bill...for the most part, they are asking for no more than you would.
Another option to consider is to ask them if they want to total it...can you take a cash settlement? They may do this in lieu of paying you off for the car... you keep the car...still get a chunk of change to repair it or buy parts or whatever.
In this case they will not insure any of the damaged items for future damages until it is repaired. For instance, If the door gets damaged again and you haven't repaired it...they will not pay a second time. If you do repair it...take it to them and let your agent take pictures and document that it has, in fact, been repaired, they will insure it as normal.
