Door Panel Q's, and center console Q's.

Howdy all, I don't post much, but I've got a couple questions...

Start with simple stuff first, I have a 1989 Trans Am WS6, my door panels are complete and total junk lookin. So I kind of want to make my own, I figure a good cardboard backing, and some really short carpet, sort of like the Iroc Panels and get Trans Am stained in would look pretty sharp, question about that is do I have to find a way to reuse my plugs to pop it in place, or is there anywhere to pick it up? Also, the top piece, on the top of the panels (not sure what it's called) it's a hard plastic, mine is cracked on the driver side, and on the passenger side, the triangular part the window slides into is all screwed up and doesn't let the window go up properly anymore... Can I still get these from the dealer? or do I have to go junk yard shopping, and roughly how much they cost?

Onto my next question, I got a nice hurst ratchet shifter, I brought it home (this was a few months ago.. been busy) and to my dismay, it doesn't fit my console!!! I read the fine print and it said it will not fit the formula console, am I to take it since I have a WS6 I have the Firebird Formula console? How do I make this thing fit? Go junkyarding and try to find a center console out of a standard firebird/ta?

Thanks in advance!

To answer this question there are sevral things you can do.

A} Borrow or buy a panel popper
http://photos.imageevent.com/dbaudio...Tools%2001.jpg ( The Red Handled tool is a panel popper)

Just slide it up under and around the little plastic doohickeys and pop em out.

B} just pull the door off and take out any doohickeys you can manage to save.

C} this goes with B.. You can buy the plastic things at any auto store and even wal-mart, just take one with you so you can get the correct ones.
