Seat Belt Repai Kit

I don't know if this has ever been shown here, I did a search but didn't find anything. PerryPam sells the seat belt repair kit that the dealer reufses to do. It comes with new bright red buttons, the tool to do the work, and the metal clips all for $25.95 plus shipping. Just a heads up if you need to do yours and don't want to either battle with the dealer or wait until they do it. Or if you just want to dress up your seatbelts. Here is a link
http://www.perrypam.com/camaronospage.htm page 3.

You can buy the same repair kit from the dealer for $4-5.00. So save yourself $20.00 and check with the dealer first.

I got them from the dealer as well for about $5, includes everything you need for all 4 seat belt receivers.

There is no tool included but it's piece of cake to do them, took me about 10 min for all 4 and looks great afterwards as most of the buttons faded really badly ... I got some pictures on this page of mine before and after along with the kit to get (click on the thumbnails for large pictures)

Can someone tell me how you go about snapping the seatbelt buckles open to remove the old buttons so you can replace them with the new buttons?

You pull the buttons out DO NOT seperate the buckle.

I just used a small flat head screw driver to pop off the old buttons, installed the new buttons, good as new. The tool really isn't needed to do the fix. It just makes it easier from a mechanics shop/flat rate point of view. GM dealerships replaced A LOT of those seat belt push buttons back in the day!

There is also a recall for '83-85 upper seat belt retractors. The return spring falls off and the belt won't retract. Its basically a piece of bent up wire that clips onto the side of the retractor and keeps the return spring housing secure. Unfortunately you have to buy a box of 12 so I'm stuck with 10 of them I don't need ...
