Conteur Seats in an Iroc

I was just curious if the contuer seats came in a lot of the Iroc-Z's. I'm selling my 1985 Iroc and was told last week that the seats were never an option in the Iroc and that they must have been put in aftermarket. I have been told by 2 people since then that it was an option. Any thoughts?

I'm assuming your talking about the L/S conteur seats that have "CAMARO" all over them. I have seen them in both Z28's and IROC's (1985 models). Production numbers as follows:

19D Black/Gray 2,510
62D Saddle 1,141
72D Red 1,043

Pretty rare, yes. Desirable? Well seems like around here you either love this interior or absolutely hate it.
BTW welcome to the boards!

Thanks for the help. Don't plan on selling the seats individually. The car is in too good of condition as a whole to part it out. Selling the car as a whole. Is there a place to get the information that was posted.. the number of cars made with certain specs? I tried to not waste people's time by looking for the answer first but could not find a website. Thanks!

I was talking about the ones with Camaro written all over them. Mine are the black and grey ones. Sorry if I didn't name it right.. this is my first camaro so I don't know all the ends and outs.

A ton of useful info, to include production numbers, can be found in the Camaro White Book.

To answer your main question, yes, they were available on IROCs in 1985 and in 1986. Not many had them. Whether they are desirable really depends on the buyer, like already mentioned. Some people hate their appearance, but others love the appearance. In terms of comfort, they were considerably better than the standard seats once you got them adjusted to your liking.

For a while, there were a few people selling original material to recover them with, but I think that stuff has pretty much disappeared. Last time I heard, a large amount of that remaining material was bought up by some company that's now making purses with it.

Hopefully in years to come, somebody will begin reproducing the material for those who wish to do an original restoration.

some guy just threw out a few yards of it. just threw it out cause he assumed it was useless, and with a set of seats at that. i felt like melting! i want them so bad. theres one website that sells them. any color combo for like 550 for front seats, 300 for the backs, and i think maybe a couple hundred for the door panels. its insanely overpriced, but im thinking about it. (its not even the full seat) just the cover, then you have to get it upholstered.

That's true, however, if I remember correctly, didn't the 86 models go back to the standard custom cloth interior upholstery, like the 82s had been?

My '83 Z28 had the Conteur Custom Cloth interior and I loved it....wish I still had that car.

The "Camaro Camaro Camaro" upholstery was used from 83-85, with most of them being 84 models. The 83 interiors didn't enter regular production until early 83, as I had one of the first and didn't take delivery of the Z28 until March 23, 1983, and I'd ordered it on September 20, 1982. I waited 6 months because of a production hold at Van Nuys on that interior.

Here's the seats that I have. It's the grey and black with the conteur. I guess winter is just not the time to sell these cause I haven't gotten a real solid hit on the car. http://community.webshots.com/album/523729667cDxaqE
