weatherstripping

I am starting to restore my 86 firebird and I noticed that it realy could use some new weatherstripping. I think thats what may have caused my old doors to rust. The new/used doors I got are in realy good shape but the weatherstripping looks old and starting to crack. Does anyone know the best place to get weatherstripping? Does it come in a complete kit or will I have to buy each piece? I need door stripping, outter glass seals, roof rail seals and probably some more that I haven't ran across yet. I think that hatch seal and cowl seal are good, but I haven't checked the car in the past couple of months. Thanks for any help.

1A Auto on ebay sells some nice weatherstripping for about $60 a door- the sweeps that go along the window themselves I think are $57 or so for a pair (2 outers or 2 inners- you'd need one of each to replace all), T-top weatherstripping is more expensive at about $165 a set. 1A has a pretty complete line.

Ebay is a great place to look for things like that. I picked up a complete set of T-top weatherstripping for under $100 recently.

Thanks for the input. I saw that JC Whitney offers a complete kit from soff seal for $259.00. Has any one used this kit and what quality is it?.

Yes, I saw the same company selling on e-bay and wondered what people's experience with it had been--especially in relation to t-tops, but overall as well (doors, hatch, hood seal). Better or worse than OEM? I see it can be had relatively cheaper, but it isn't cheaper if I have to do it twice!!

I just bought a complete kit from Hawks. It was a little bit more, but the window felts were N.O.S items. So that sold me on them.

I have aftermarket window seals for my Corvette and used OEM for the IROC. I think that the OEM are enough of an improvement to warrant the additional cost.

Yeah I know what you mean. I started to order the kit from JC Whitney. I called the tech department to ask what all was included in the kit. The guy told me that it came with the door seals, roof rail seals, window felts, hood to cowl seal hatch seal and all bumper for hood, doors, fuel door and hatch.
So I went and got my credit card and I called to order the kit, but I didn't have the part number so the lady transfered me back to the same guy. It had only been about 20 minutes and this guy couldn't find the kit. He said all that was listed was door seals, roof rail seals and hatch seal in there kit. He said that they didn't have the window felts or the hood to cowl seals. He the replyed and said didn't I talk to you a few minutes ago. I said yes and he said that they no longer offer that kit that it was taken off since I last called.
So I decided to call someone a little more experienced with these type of cars. They guy at Hawks was real cool and helped me out alot. I just can't wait to check out all of the new weatherstripping when it arrives. I should have my cars body done in a couple of months. It helps having a father in law who is a body man.

Any brand weatherstripping should fit... it comes extra long and you need to cut it to size. I have the Soffseal on mine, and since I did such a great job cutting it, it fits perfect.

I have soffseal on mine, it doesnt seal completely on the sides of the decklid and it creases where the bends in the glass are... any ideas on solving this problem?

Don't know. I didn't have that problem. The best suggestion i can offer is to take it off, let it sit in the sun on a hot day until it's nice and flexible, then install it. Maybe it'll bend better instead of creasing.

Just an update. I ordered all new turn signals and marker lights from year one today. I should be getting them in a couple of days. Some of them for the driver side are on back order and will be shipped seperate in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping to get started on the body work in a couple of weeks.
