Anyone with carpeted or unique interior (Plastics)
Im thinking about changing the color of my interior and the thought has crossed my mind about carpeting the plastics. I think i saw this before and didnt think it looked that bad but i would like to see if anyone has some more examples before i do something i dont like. Either way if its not carpet i will paint them. If anyone has some pictures of carpeted or any other unique or different idea i would be interested in seeing some pictures. Thank you

Tweed was cool in the 90s, but you don't see it very much anymore.
One thing you may want to consider doing is rather than carpet the entire panel, carpet the indentations on the panels. This was a stock option, and can look very good without making your car look like the inside of a kidnapper van.

How exactly did you do it? Did you just use hot glue. I think that is somewhat along the lines of what i wanna do. I think i wanna do black though. I do think the tweed looks good though. Did you use different door panels or just stitch a different line on them? I like the idea a lot.

I haven't done it yet, but any kind of spray adhesive should work just fine.

Yeah i was thinking about that too. I just got done tearing down most the plastic out of the car earlier today. Im going to use a black though. I just really like the black interiors. Hopefully all goes well and i plan to take pictures of the process because i dont think there is a lot of other people that have done this. I really like your setup with the screen and dvd player also Jim. Very nice.

The tweed looks real clean in there, Im not a big fan of the material but you did a good job
I used felt, elmers spray, and a hot glue gun
If I did it again I wouldnt use elmers spray cuz it just doesnt stick well overtime
Also, I never liked t-top shades. My fav thing bout t-tops is bein able to see up no matter the weather

That looks nice. Im looking forward to. Just some odds and ends im gonna have to change because i have the red interior. Its in really good condition, seats and all look great but i just dont like the color. Im thinking about just getting the seats recovered because they are still in real good condition.

I went with carpet in the centers of all the panels. I painted my panels black (came stock tan), then bought a roll of the thin light weight carpet from auto zone (feels like what speaker boxes are covered in)
I got a red-ish color carpet.
Cut the carpet to shape and sized, and used 3M spray on glue to put the carpet on the panels.
The spray glue didnt hold too good and I had to go back and re do it useing hot glue.
I also cut one pc. of carpet in the rear too short so when I re glued it all I cut another pc. to fix that.
The only pic I have of it is this one. Right after I done it. In this pic you'll see the part I cut too short on the drivers side rear.

anyone fiblerglass the carpet part of are doorpanels ??? i know some people do when they put speakers in the door just wondering if anyone did it with out the speakers and how it turned out
i think this is sorta what i want to do too..but maybe in vinyl or something.
do you have to take all the panels off to put the material on there, or do you just leave them in the car?

ive taken all mine off. I would assume you would want to take them off so you could kind of wrap the new material over the edges to get a cleaner look and it will probably hold better.
when you wrap, depending on the covering, you stretch some over to the backside and use heavy adhesive to secure it
I used spray for the visible area and hot glue to hold it on the backside
