power windows
power windows
I did a few searches but couldnt find anything....
I changed my driver side power motor in the summer due to it being so weak. well I decided to open the window after not opening them for a few months
I got it going down and a 1/4 way down it had a crack sound. then it continues dow to 1/2 way and same thing. When I was all the way down, I could not get the window to lift past 1/4 level. So I got mad and pull on the window as i pushed the switch...
The window felt lose, it had play, up, left & right.
I had to then remove the door panel to get a better view on the mechanism. Can really se anything wrong. It is lose though. Not the motor mounting but the arms that have "wheels" attached to them and run in a rail....
I kind of used wd40 on the rail in the summer. Should I have used grease?
What do you recomend I do?
Finally got it to close and reinstalled the door panels while I figure a solution.

After you fix it, Definitely use grease!!!!!
WD40 is a solvent, it will dissolve any grease you had left, then it will evaporate and there is no lube for the mechanism.

THanks guys,
The wheels were put in correctly as it worked fine until recently.
I will add grease once it gets warmer over hear.
Does anyone know if there are repair kits, with the wheels and such?
Thanks,
Sam
