Need Help Wiring 4th gen Lighter for 3rd Gen.

I tried to do some searching on this topic and not much info was available, I know the Orange wire is hot and the black is ground in the third gen. I have a 4th gen console and attempted to hook it up and no luck came out of the ordeal. There are 3 prongs at the base of the lighter, 2 appear the normal metal color and one is a copper prong, I'm assuming the copper prong is the hot wire lead? Am I right on this? Also I was using the metal body for the ground, it looked like a spade terminle on the metal housing, I could be wrong because it didnt work, The other two prongs left by the copper prongs, are they the ground? If so would both have to be plugged in? Help would be appreciated Im sure someones done this wiring before! PICS ARE A BIG HELP TOO!

Thank You
Travis

do you know how to use a multimeter? JIC you dont i'll post that part up too...

set the meter to olms
take the two leads and touch them together. the meter should read 0.00 .... if it doesnt, then make sure the leads are plugged in tight. when they're not touching, the meter should read nothing, or possibly 1__.__ (thats a line or 1 and blank elsewhere)

take one lead and touch it to the center nipple inside the lighter.. the one something would touch if yuo plugged it in.

take the other lead and touch it to the terminals on the back.. one of them should read 0.00 thats where your hot (+12v) wire goes.

now take one lead and touch the inside of the lighter case, where the connector edge would touch.
take the other lead and touch the remaining terminals... one should read 0.00 also... thats your ground.

if you dont have a multimeter, buy one, and learn how to use it.. one of the most useful car tools you'll ever own.. and they're cheap.
