Sanding issues...
I've got a 91 firebird. In august my rear window was busted out by some punk vandals, I got a new black hatch but it didn't have the in-window mounted brake light. I've recently purchased a hatch that would suit my bird better, but it's red. I've got no problem painting it but I'm not sure what grit sandpaper I should use on the deck and spoiler. I don't want to get it too course and ruin the metal. What do you think?

Use 220 with a DA (Dual Action) sander.
Once it's down to metal, do all your prep with finer grit sand paper, just search "paint prep" on google... you'll read for the rest of your life haha.
