curing heat paint?

My brother just rattle canned his muffler black. How long should he wait to throw it on the car? The can says to let it cure for 7 days. What trouble would he run into if he put it on early?

Thanks

Doesn't get hot enough. I rattle-canned a new thrush super turbo last night on my daily driver, let it idle to get it warm and help cure the paint last night, and it stank all day today when I drove it. No flaking, and it's regular rustoleum paint. I would do the same. Stick it on, let it get warm idleing, and drive it the next day.

ya the muffler wont get near as hot as headers or the y pipe. mine stays cool enough that i can drive the car for 15mins and grab the input pipe with my hands. its perty warm but nowhere near burning me.
