Some of you might know what Im talking about. I am painting my friends car and when we primed it, we put these little circular covers over the door locks, and they were made for exactly that (gm only). does anybody know where i can get a couple of these. my friend lost them when we were untaping the car and my teacher wants me to buy him a new one. if anyone can put me in the direction, that would be awesome...maybe you have extras.

Well than U need to go to a Auto body supply store.. They will have a few on hand.. If U don't know where one is..( There hard to find if U don't know one off hand ) Go to a local body shop and just ask where they got theirs.. Tell them why and they may take pity on U and give U a few used ones..

i guess so. i mean, my teacher has access to all the suppliers and none of them make it anymore. he looked forever for a third one (for the trunk and both doors at the same time), but nobody had it or could find it. i guess im screwed.

wait, hold the horses!!!
You guys are trying to tell me that you do not take them out along with your upper window trim, door handle, and mirror.
After time the paint line starts to peel back and you see the old paint.
If you like your car and intend on keeping it do it right and take off the door interior door panel. if you are planning to sell it take it to maaco.
this will give you the chance to put some rattle can black on all the small pieces like the door locks.
what you guys are doing is the equivalent of painting the door without blocking it and using a guide coat.

You should just pop off the rubber boot off the bottom of a chair, cut it down, and give it to your teacher. Maybe if you can run fast enough, he wont notice.

lol its cool. my friend works at a shop and asked the body shop if they could still get them, and they were able to. it was 10 bucks for two of em and we only lost one, so its not a problem anymore. thanks again for the help.

intresting that they even make something like that. it would have never corssed my mind to NOT remove the handle and lock cylender before painting the door.

when people are working at a dealership they just try to get cars through as quick as possible with no regard for the customer
