2 collisions, 3 incidents, 6 days... What luck.

OK, so it started last Wednesday when I dropped a socket on my rear hatch window. I had tools in a bucket in the hatch, I pulled em out and went rooting through them. Pulled out a pair of pliers and lo and behold it had a 13MM 3/8 socket stuck on it, and I watched in abject horror as the socket came off the pliers, went 2 feet in the air, and made a nice perfect arc to impact the rear window.

I heard the sound nobody wants to hear, and thats a huge auto glass window totally shattering. Only the tint held it together.

SO I put up cardboard and garbage bags... the next day wifey goes to the doctor, shes leaving, (shes driving, I'm in the passenger seat), she pulls out into the parking lot, someone is leaving so she stops to let them go. I happen to look to the right and witness this lady SLOWLY back right into my car! I screamed and she (my wife) didn't understand what was going on (back window is now covered in cardboard), I reach over and honk about a half second after the lady hits me. Turns out she's 75 and a total you know what. Direct quote "You should have honked, you shouldn't have been behind me when I was backing up, your car is low, I couldn't see it". Yeah........

Thats not too bad, just a fender dent that I'm sure I'll get out with a mallet. But this old lady is such a you know what that I make sure I call the cops and do a police report.

I get the hatch done over the weekend, nice wavy crap tint job that I'll have to deal with until I can get it done again.

OK, so no biggie. Until yesterday. My wife calls me at work bawling that it happened again! This time a big chevy express van backed into her while she was in the drive thru at burger king! Wiped out the passenger door and the window!!!!

Now I'm starting to get pissed. Maybe my car has that wonder woman plane thing going on. My wife thinks it turns invisible LOL.

No offense, but it sucks to be you, I mean your car, no, your wife.
Maybe if you attach one of those atv flags to the roof it would help?!

Close to the same thing for me... just not as funny and sad at the same time.

I had someone that was parked next to me in an escalade back out with the wheels cut and messed up my door and rear quarter panel. Then he didn't want to pay for it because it was an older car and 'not worth it', so he says. After two weeks, I got his money and came to work to have another SUV back into the front and crack the front clip. I put it into the shop to get a really nice paint job, but now I'm afraid to drive it anywhere.

Trying to help you feel better.

Thanks guys, its still so annoying to have to climb over the console every time we both go anywhere. Haven't fixed it yet, but I do have a nice $1100 estimate for the door/window, and a $600 one for the dent in the rear passenger. The body shop guy says he's never seen anything like that before (2 collisions in 6 days.)

Submitted it all to the 2 adjusters early this week, and I hope to have it here shortly.

I've had two collisions in 3 days. My buddy had 2 in 30 minutes! Those shop guys must not have been around very long, haha.

Semi Third Gen Related....

We own a 2001 Dodge ram. Last year I backed out of a space I was in after getting my kids on the bus and a peice of fence hooked onto the back of my truck, when I drove out it popped the back panel just behind the rear tire out.. Boy was my husband pissed!

3 months later it snowed a good 3 to 4 feet. Bad tires, lots of snow, a 45 degree angle driveway and Mailboxes not a good Combo.. My Husband got the drivers side fender stuck on Mailbox. 6 grand of Damage.. Amazing how much damage a Mailbox can do..

Jump to two weeks AFTER we got it out of the shop. April 29th 2005. Road ways clear.. till i get over the top of the hill on the freeway. Mother Nature breaks loose, Rain, Hail, Snow, lighning, thunder, you name it, it was coming down. Cue to me trying to slow down to get over a ice covered bridge. Didn't work.. I lost control. Spun around, total 360.. Freaked out. Thankful I hit nothing. Not 30 seconds later a Lincoln Towncar, trying to pass me hits some ice on his way over, hits the wall, bounces off, Slams into the back of my truck on the right rear side. Smashes into me clear to his windshield. My Bumper goes through his window and breaks off his headrest on the passanger side, his hood crushed into my tow package. the truck rocks and he sends me spinning across the freeway to the grassy median near the onramp. I come to a rest, He keeps spinning, 500 yards later he comes to a rest. It was my rear tire, suspension and tow package that saved me from rolling as it all absorbed the impact. Some how in all of this I get the warning from the cop.. for and get this.. Driving on a divided highway! Where else am I supposed to drive! (When I looked up the code it was actually for crossing the yellow line) After all is said and done the total damage to the truck for BOTH accidents.. 13 grand.. One more accident and it would be totaled. Needless to say I don't like driving the truck unless it's a perfectly clear sunny day!

Now the third gen part..

Ever since I have gotten my Firebird running I am driving better then ever not a single accident, Speeding ticket, warning. nothing! Everyone always asks me "Do you get pulled over alot because it's red" to be honest, Cops don't even look twice at me. Though I do get nervous on the freeway passing other people, Always afraid they are gonna weave into me or come into my lane and not see me. The last two weeks though my Car has been relaxing with three tires.. and the classic ******* Cinder block under the other.

A few weeks ago I had a flat tire on a washboard road, put on my spare.. Spare was flat.. had to get get a new tire.. 60 bucks for a new tire! A week later I hear this pop sound. I pull over and look at all my tires. None of them are flat.. Weird.. So I drive home and it feels like I have a flat tire, that thumping sound I couldn't figure it out. My Husband and I go for a ride. He has me pull over so he can look. The drivers side tire is wobbling.. So we Limp home. take it the tire off, the dust cap off.. and that last bearing won't come off. So we try to take the rotor off.. No that won't come off either.. So the spindle has to come off. So the spindle finally comes off, the Rotor is frozen to it. So I had to go to the junkyard to get a new Spindle.. Pepboys to get a new Rotor ( I don't normally go to Pepboys) This weekend we go to put the spindle on.. The nut won't fit on.. I had to go buy a new Ball joint..So the ball joint is on, the spindle is on.. we go to put the seal ring in the rotor on, it won't go on! We destory the seal. So I go buy a new one, that one won't go on either.. So we finally get it on, put the rotor on everything packed on and the Rotor turns out to be the wrong one! Had to go return it all. got the right rotor and it all slipped together in under 5 minutes with the new rotor. YAY No more driving the truck! So I go to replace the windshield wiper switch, since as most it's broken. I pull the old one off, push the new one it.. I won't go in. we tried for like 15 minutes.. We look into the hole, it's all messed up AND the windshield wipers are stuck on.. So I had to unplug the wipers form the engine.. Now I only hope it doesn't rain! When I bought the car I knew I was going to rebuild it.. But I didn't know I was going to build a whole new car! When will it end! ( I know, Never.. )
