Hatch Pull down?

My friend just bought a 92 firebird and he says that he doesnt have to "slam" the hatch to shut it because it pulls it down automatically. I was curious as to if i have this and it just doenst work. I have a 1983 Camaro. If i dont have it then how can i get it, or fix it? Any indo would be grealy appreciated. Thanks again.

You don't have a power pull-down motor. The mounting pattern is different than your slam latch. To add one you'd have to cut the mount for either the 1986-91 or 1991-92 version and attach it to your car (weld, screw, rivet, etc). You'll also need to add a 12v source to power it.
