saving weatherstripping
I need weatherstripping for my car since the old stuff was trashed (probably original) and my buddy recently offered to sell me his 89 for 500 bucks. he said when i drove it last in 99' he put new weatherstripping on it. now i'm real tempted to do this cause i need a headliner too which i could use then part out the rest of the car especially the rebuilt 700r4 but here is the problem..
when i took my weatherstripping off my car, i totally destroyed it.. like i tried to get it off in 1 piece, but it didn't even come close to happening.. so i just have this horrible feeling i'm going to use my weatherstripping money on this car and then destroy it and have no money for new stuff..
so. how if it is even possible do you take weatherstripping off (especially t-top stripping) and not destroy it?

normaly you replace the door weatherstriping, but it depends on the painter, and the paintjob. If you aretalking about a total color change, or big paintjob. Yes weatherstripping goes. But if you are respraying to freshen up an old color amny times you can back tape the t-top stripping that can't be pulled. hatch and door stripping can be reused if good. Just becarful when you pull it
