Mixed Bondo is pink right?

If I remeber right, yes. Bondo is gray, hardener is dark red. So mixing them gives you that pink/red color. Adam :-)

It depends on which hardener you use... Some are red and some ar blue.
Clear and white are for duraglass.
Evercoat's "Rage Gold" filler is yellow, and mixing it with blue hardener, makes it green.

That's impressive. At this point, I'm afraid I know more than I want to about the stuff though. 
Here's another question. I'm using the "body filler" compound (standard?) and am reading about stuff to put over the actual filler -- "Skim coat" is what they are calling it. Is this necessary? What is it?
The spot I am repairing looks like someone dropped a quarter from the 20th floor of a building and made a little crease/dent in the hood. I've already sanded down to bare metal, washed the sanding dust away with soap and water, and have just filled the hole so when I hit the area again with some 320 grit and then some 400+ grit, I feel like it will be flush with the rest of the surface. After that, I was going to apply primer, sand again, apply another coat of primer, sand once more, and then deliver to paint.
Am I on the right track?

Use acetone to wash the area soap and water will leave residue. Its avalable for $5 in the body shop section at any store. Looking fine I don't see anything wrong with the way your filling it.

"skim coat" is what it sounds like... a skim coat of a filler..
you will find bondo tends to leave pinholes, a skim coat of a glazing compound will give you a surface todo your final sanding on

Well, I think I've got it licked. Bondo has been applied and sanded. Primer has been applied and sanded. I'm going to hit it once more with some 800 grit before I bring it to the paint booth. I'll tell you, when you work on the surface of a car, you can really see all the little imperfections and just build up serious muscle sanding those things away.

what i would do is grind the paint off the dmged area with some 40 grit, feather edge the areas where i ground the paint to bare steel with 150. If the dent is small i would use some fiberglass filler from rage and would block that in 80 grit and then finish with 150. Then id scuff the paint a little past the feather edging with 360 grit because id want to spray some primer past the damaged area to get my repair flush with the old paint.. Now id begin to spray some primer filler over the filler and into my feather edged paint, 3 good coats should do the trick. When that dries i would spray some rattle can black paint on as my guide coat and then begin to block the primer with 240 grit to knock down the primer a bit. Then id finalize with 320. and then id go back over my job with 500 by hand. Now since my car has a metallic paint job i cant jus paint the whole hood or else it would not match the rest of the car... so im gonna "blend" the paint instead... so to do this i would sand down the rest of my hood in 800 grit just to rough up the clear coat so the paint i lay down will stick to it. then id go back over that by hand with 800 then use a gray scotch pad to hit my edges and such.. whew.. now heres the fun part, painting... id clean my hood off with wax and grease remover then id tack it off with a tack cloth. Then id lay down some primer sealer, one good coat is all it takes, but im only gonna spray this stuff over the block sanded area (so the primer filler and bondo dont bleed thru and ruin the paint) after that im gonna spray some base coat, 3 coats of the stuff, but since im blending im gonna take the first coat about an inch and half past my sealer and twist my wrist and pull away from the hood to start blending. the second coat of paint is about the same way, exept id try and spray an inch and half from my last coat of paint. the third coat goes on like the second one did. now i get to spray two coats of clear over the whole part, and it should look purty now, exept for the dirt nibs...

That's weird. The hood that I originally had on my 87 formy had a dent in that exact spot and so did the replacement I pulled off an 82 TA.
