I have what seems to be an odd dash and gauge set. Out of over 200 cars and 3 dealerships have never seen another like it. Anyone eles have one or has seen another? What appears to be a 5 inch speedomoter on the left side of the steering column using a cable drive, 5 inch fuel indicator on the right side of column, 12 1 inch warning lights on the far right. The car is a 1985 and I was told by the dealer that the cable drive was stoped after 1983.

 

I've seen the large fuel gauge before and the idiot lights. It's just the basic gauge setup, without the tach, etc...most likely on base firebirds, or maye even a delete option for the better gauges. I know these were available back in '82, the fuel guage anyway. Also '85 was the last year for a mechanical speedometer.

 

It's the base-model dash, and the mechanical speedo extended well beyond 83. My base-model 86 firebird had that dash, and used the mechanical speedo.

I think that dash was used through 87 or 88, after which time, the "idiot light" no-tach dash was discontinued and all cars got the "normal" dash.
